MECL Executive Trainee Recruitment 2026: 13 Posts for Electrical and Mechanical Engineers via UPSC ESE 2024 Score

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL), a Mini-Ratna-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, has announced a recruitment drive for 13 Executive Trainee posts in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines. This recruitment is unique as it is conducted through the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2024 score. Only candidates who cleared the written round of UPSC ESE 2024, appeared for the interview, and were not recommended for final selection by UPSC are eligible to apply. The online registration process commenced on 1 August 2026 and will close on 23 October 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the MECL Recruitment Portal.

Vacancy Details

The total of 13 vacancies is distributed across four categories. There is 1 vacancy for Executive Trainee (Electrical) for UR category candidates. The Executive Trainee (Mechanical) position in the Procurement and Contract Division has 5 vacancies, with 3 for UR, 1 for OBC, and 1 for SC, of which one is reserved for PwD candidates with LV, OH, or HH disabilities. The Executive Trainee (Mechanical) position in the Store and Disposal Division has 2 vacancies for UR candidates. The Executive Trainee (Mechanical) position in the Drilling Division also has 5 vacancies, with 3 for UR, 1 for OBC, and 1 for SC. All positions are open for freshers, and the vacancies are provisional, subject to change at the company's discretion.

Eligibility Criteria

For the Electrical post, candidates must hold a B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks from a UGC and AICTE-recognized institute. For the Mechanical posts, candidates need a B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks. Degrees obtained through open and distance learning are not permissible. No post-qualification experience is required for any of the posts. The crucial date for eligibility is 1 August 2026.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit for Unreserved category candidates is 28 years as on 1 August 2026. SC and ST candidates get a relaxation of 5 years, while OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years of relaxation. PwD candidates get additional relaxations: 10 years for General, 15 years for SC/ST, and 13 years for OBC-NCL. Ex-servicemen are eligible for relaxation as per Government of India guidelines. Internal candidates may get a relaxation of up to 1 year, subject to CMD approval.

Salary and Benefits

Selected candidates will be placed as Executive Trainees during a one-year training period with an initial Basic Pay of Rs. 40,000 per month in the E-1 (IDA) pay scale of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1,40,000. They will also receive Industrial Dearness Allowance. Additional benefits include House Rent Allowance, cafeteria-approach allowances, Provident Fund, National Pension System, Performance Related Pay, Group Medical Insurance, MECL-Employee Defined Contributory Superannuation Scheme, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Term Insurance, and loans for vehicles and housing as per company guidelines.

Application Fee

General, OBC, and EWS candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs. 500. SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, and Departmental candidates are exempted from paying the fee. The fee must be paid online through Net-Banking or a QR code and is non-refundable.

Selection Process

The selection process is based entirely on the UPSC ESE 2024 score, with no separate written examination or personal interview conducted by MECL. Applicant lists will be prepared in decreasing order of marks out of 1200 scored in UPSC ESE 2024, category-wise, for the relevant discipline. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted and called for a Document Verification round. If documents are found suitable, offers of employment will be issued. In case of a tie in the total UPSC ESE 2024 score, seniority in age will be considered first, followed by a higher aggregate percentage in the essential engineering degree.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should visit the official MECL website and go to the Career section. They need to register on the MECL Online Recruitment Portal with all mandatory details, log in, and fill the online application form. Candidates must enter personal details, educational qualifications, UPSC ESE 2024 score, and category details accurately. Required scanned documents including photograph, signature, caste certificate, PwBD certificate, Ex-Servicemen certificate, UPSC ESE 2024 scorecard, ID proof, and payment proof must be uploaded in the specified format and file size. After paying the application fee, candidates should submit the application before the closing date and take a printout for future reference. Applications received through any other mode will not be accepted.

Important Instructions

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. Selected candidates will undergo one year of training and may be posted at any MECL project, office, or establishment in India. The appointee will be on probation for one year, extendable by up to one further year. Executives must serve a minimum of 36 months after joining, with a retention deduction of Rs. 5,000 per month from salary, refundable without interest on completion of 36 months. A service bond of Rs. 1.8 lakh must be executed. Appointment is subject to medical fitness. Category certificates must be valid as of the crucial date. Candidates working in government or PSUs must apply through proper channel or furnish a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification.
