Indian Army TES 57 Recruitment 2026 – Become a Commissioned Officer Through 10+2 Technical Entry
The Indian Army has released the notification for the 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES)-57 course, scheduled to commence in July 2027. This prestigious officer-entry programme offers 90 provisional vacancies for unmarried male candidates who have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and appeared in JEE Main 2026. Online applications are open from 14 October 2026 to 12 November 2026 at 12:00 noon. Successful candidates will undergo four years of military and engineering training, leading to a Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.
Vacancy Details
A total of 90 provisional vacancies have been announced for the 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES-57), July 2027 course. The number of vacancies is subject to change based on the training capacity of Cadets Training Wings and the Indian Army's requirements. This is not a direct appointment as a Lieutenant; it is an officer training entry.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized education board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. They must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in PCM. The PCM percentage is calculated using Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Appearing in JEE Main 2026 is mandatory. The Indian Army will shortlist eligible applicants using the JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List (CRL). Meeting the Class 12 PCM percentage requirement alone does not guarantee an SSB interview call.
Age Limit
The age limit is 16 years 6 months to 19 years 6 months as on 1 July 2027. Candidates must have been born between 1 January 2008 and 1 January 2011, both dates inclusive. The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Class 10 certificate will be used. Changes to the recorded date of birth are not permitted.
Nationality and Marital Status
The entry is open to citizens of India, subjects of Nepal, and eligible persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. The entry is restricted to unmarried male candidates. Selected candidates must undertake not to marry until they complete the training programme. Marriage during training can lead to discharge and recovery of training expenditure.
Selection Process
Selection begins with shortlisting based on JEE Main 2026 CRL and the prescribed cut-off. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a five-day SSB interview at centres in Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar. Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a medical examination at a military hospital. The final merit list is prepared based on SSB marks. Joining is subject to medical fitness, merit position, eligibility, and available vacancies. The expected SSB period is February to March 2027.
Training and Engineering Degree
Selected candidates will undergo four years of integrated military and engineering training. Phase I consists of three years at a Cadets Training Wing (CME Pune, MCTE Mhow, or MCEME Secunderabad). Phase II consists of one year at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. After successful completion, candidates will be awarded an Engineering degree. Cadets at CME Pune pursue Civil and Mechanical Engineering; MCTE Mhow offers Telecommunication and Information Technology Engineering (Dual Degree); MCEME Secunderabad offers Electronics and Mechanical Engineering.
Salary and Stipend
Cadets receive a stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month during their training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA phase only). After commissioning as a Lieutenant, they are placed in Level 10 with a pay scale of Rs. 56,100–1,77,500 plus Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500 per month. The estimated annual CTC after commissioning is approximately Rs. 17–18 lakh. Rank-wise pay scales include Captain (Level 10B: Rs. 61,300–1,93,900), Major (Level 11: Rs. 69,400–2,07,200), and Lieutenant Colonel (Level 12A: Rs. 1,21,200–2,12,400).
Physical and Medical Standards
Candidates must meet the Indian Army's medical and physical fitness standards for officer entry. Minimum physical fitness standards expected on arrival for training include: 2.4 km run in 10 minutes 30 seconds, 40 push-ups, 6 pull-ups, 30 sit-ups, 2 sets of 30 squats, 2 sets of 10 lunges, and knowledge of basic swimming techniques.
