Delhi University Assistant Recruitment 2026: A Complete Guide
The University of Delhi (DU) has released Advertisement No. R&P/325/2026, inviting online applications for 215 Assistant (Non-Teaching) posts. This is a significant opportunity for candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant administrative experience to join one of India's most prestigious universities. The application window is open until 19 November 2026, and interested candidates must apply through the official DU portal.
Vacancy Details and Eligibility
The recruitment drive aims to fill 215 vacancies for the post of Assistant. To be eligible, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute. Additionally, applicants need at least two years of experience as a Junior Assistant or in an equivalent role in a university, government department, PSU, autonomous body, or a private company with an annual turnover of Rs. 200 crore or more. Proficiency in computer operations and office automation tools is essential, along with a typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi.
The age limit for the general category is between 18 and 32 years. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved categories as per university norms. The application fee is Rs. 1,000 for General candidates, Rs. 800 for OBC (NCL), EWS, and all female candidates, and Rs. 600 for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates. Notably, candidates who had applied under the earlier advertisement (R&P/311/2024) are exempted from paying the fee again.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The selection process comprises three stages: a Preliminary Test, a Main Examination, and a Skill Test, followed by document verification. The Preliminary Test is a screening stage with 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 200 marks, to be completed in 2 hours and 30 minutes. It covers General Studies (20 questions), Reasoning (20 questions), Mathematical Ability (20 questions), and Administration of Higher Educational Institutions (40 questions). This stage is purely for shortlisting and its marks are not considered for the final merit list.
The Main Examination is descriptive in nature and carries 200 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. It focuses on Educational Administration & Management and Functional Rules such as FR, SR, GFR, GeM, and Pension Rules. The final merit is prepared based on the performance in this Main Examination. Candidates who qualify the Main Exam will be called for the Skill Test, which is qualifying in nature with a minimum of 50 marks out of 100. The Skill Test assesses office procedures, noting and drafting, computer operations, and typing speed. The duration for the skill test will be decided by the university.
How to Apply
To apply, candidates should visit the official Delhi University website and navigate to the 'Work with DU' section. They need to open the application link for Advt. No. R&P/325/2026 and complete the online registration by providing a valid email ID, mobile number, and personal details. After registration, candidates must fill in their academic qualifications, typing credentials, and detailed two-year experience records. Scanned copies of a passport-size photograph, signature, degree certificates, experience letters, and category/PwBD certificates (if applicable) must be uploaded. The application fee can be paid online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. Candidates are advised to review all details carefully before final submission and to take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
