CRPF Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: 521 Head Constable & Constable Posts for Sportspersons

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has released a major recruitment notification for meritorious sportspersons under the Sports Quota for the year 2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill 521 vacancies for the posts of Head Constable (General Duty) and Constable (General Duty). Vacancy Distribution

Out of the total 521 vacancies, 182 posts are for Head Constable/GD, with 150 positions for males and 32 for females. The remaining 339 posts are for Constable/GD, with 258 positions for males and 81 for females. The vacancies are spread across 21 sports disciplines. Athletics has the highest number of vacancies at 101, followed by Aquatics (Swimming) with 60, Shooting with 53, Kabaddi with 27, Wrestling with 26, Football with 22, Boxing with 20, Volleyball with 20, Water Sports with 20, Wushu with 20, Weightlifting with 19, Karate with 17, Basketball with 16, Judo with 16, Hockey with 15, Taekwondo with 14, Gymnastics with 12, Handball with 12, Yoga with 12, Body Building with 11, and Badminton with 5. Archery has the fewest vacancies at 3. Candidates must select their sport carefully during the application process.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The prescribed age limit for both HC/GD and CT/GD is 18 to 23 years as on 1 August 2026. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 2 August 2003 and later than 1 August 2008. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories. UR candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC (NCL) get 8 years, and SC/ST get 10 years. Ex-Servicemen (UR) get 8 years after deduction of military service, Ex-Servicemen (OBC) get 11 years, and Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST) get 13 years.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification differs for the two posts. For Head Constable/GD, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised Board/University recognised by the Central or State Government. For Constable/GD, candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board. Candidates must possess the required qualification by 11 November 2026.

Sports Qualification

This is the most important eligibility condition. For Head Constable/GD, eligible sportspersons include those who have represented India in recognised international competitions/meets with the required clearance, represented a State/UT in National Games or Championships and secured a medal or position up to third place, or secured first or second position in an individual event in Inter-University tournaments. For Constable/GD, eligible candidates include sportspersons who have represented a State in Senior/Junior National-level Games or Championships, represented State School teams in National Sports/Games for Schools conducted by SGFI and won medals or positions up to third place, represented a State/UT in Khelo India University Games, Khelo India Youth Games or Khelo India Winter Games and won medals or positions up to third place, or represented their University in Inter-University tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Boards. The sports achievement/certificate should be from the last two years from the date of publication of the recruitment advertisement.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 100 for male candidates belonging to UR, OBC, and EWS categories applying for HC/GD or CT/GD under the Sports Quota. The fee is exempted for female candidates, SC candidates, ST candidates, and Ex-Servicemen.

Selection Process

The selection process follows a different route from conventional CRPF recruitments. There is no conventional written examination. The stages include Identity Check, Documentation, Physical Standard Test (PST), Sports Trial Test, Merit List based on sports achievement marks, Detailed Medical Examination (DME), and Review Medical Examination (RME) wherever applicable. CRPF will award marks based on the candidate's highest eligible sports achievement. For example, an Olympic Gold medal carries 100 marks, World Championship Gold carries 90 marks, Asian Games Gold carries 80 marks, and National Games Gold carries 30 marks for individual events and 26 marks for team events. Youth/Junior National/Inter-University/School/Khelo India Gold carries 20 marks for individual events and 16 marks for team events.

Salary Details

The pay scale differs according to the post. Head Constable/GD is in Pay Level 4 with a pay scale of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100. Constable/GD is in Pay Level 3 with a pay scale of Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100.
