UP Special TET 2026: Application and Exam Details

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has announced the Uttar Pradesh Special Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 through Advertisement No. 03/2026. The examination is intended for eligible in-service teachers and Special Educators working with children with special needs in qualifying institutions across Uttar Pradesh. The application process will use the One Time Registration system, making it important for applicants to complete their candidate profile before submitting the examination form.

Important Dates

The online application window is scheduled to open on 5 September 2026 and close on 4 October 2026. Candidates who need to correct submitted information can use the correction facility up to 8 October 2026. The written examination is scheduled for 3 November 2026, while the admit card release date will be announced before the examination.

Who Can Apply?

The test covers two teaching levels. The Primary Level is intended for eligible teachers and special educators associated with Classes 1 to 5, while the Upper Primary Level covers Classes 6 to 8. Regular in-service teachers working in state government, local body, or aided schools must provide the required employment identification details, including a valid eHRMS Code.

Special Educators working with CWSN candidates must meet the prescribed rehabilitation education requirements. For the Primary Level, the stated qualification is graduation with D.Ed. in Special Education recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, along with an active CRR number and RCI registration certificate. For Upper Primary Level, graduation with B.Ed. in Special Education recognized by RCI, together with an active CRR number and registration certificate, is specified.

Age Criteria

For regular in-service teachers, age eligibility is governed by the applicable service rules. Contractual or daily-wage Special Educators are subject to a maximum age of 60 years as stated in the recruitment information. Candidates should verify their individual service status and applicable rules before submitting the application.

Application Fee

The fee is charged separately for each examination level selected. General, OBC, and EWS applicants are required to pay Rs. 1,000 per level. SC and ST candidates pay Rs. 500 per level, while Divyangjan or PwD candidates pay Rs. 300 per level. Payment is to be completed through the available online banking gateway using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Exam Pattern

Each selected level carries 150 multiple-choice questions for a maximum of 150 marks, with a total test duration of 150 minutes. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. For the Primary Level, the paper includes Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, a second language selected from English, Urdu or Sanskrit, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, with 30 questions in each area.

For the Upper Primary Level, Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, and the second language each carry 30 questions. The remaining 60 questions cover either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science. The General category qualifying benchmark is 60 percent, equivalent to 90 marks. The stated qualifying benchmark for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Freedom Fighter dependents, Ex-Servicemen, and PwD candidates is 55 percent, with the notification summary specifying 82 marks out of 150.

How to Apply

Applicants should first complete the mandatory One Time Registration and create their candidate profile. After registration, they can access the Special TET application and enter personal, employment, and educational information. Teachers should keep their eHRMS Code available, while eligible Special Educators should have their CRR and RCI registration details ready.

The application requires a recent passport-size photograph, signature, and relevant qualification or category documents in the prescribed file sizes. Applicants should carefully check every entry before paying the applicable fee and submitting the form. After successful submission, the confirmation page should be saved or printed for future reference.

Key Preparation Points

Because the examination is based on 150 objective questions, candidates should prepare each prescribed section systematically. Primary-level applicants should give balanced attention to pedagogy, languages, mathematics, and environmental studies. Upper-primary applicants should additionally strengthen either the Mathematics and Science combination or the Social Studies/Social Science area according to their chosen paper. Since there is no negative marking, candidates can attempt all questions, but preparation should focus on accuracy and completion within the 150-minute limit.
