Educational Qualification
- General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master's degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university/institution.
- BC/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in the Master's degree or equivalent examination.
- Candidates pursuing their Master's degree, appearing in the final year examination, or whose results are awaited are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates who completed their Master's degree by 19 September 1991 and hold a Ph.D. degree are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (minimum 50% instead of 55%).

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the AP SET 2026 examination.
Exemptions
Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET or CSIR-NET are exempted from appearing in APSET.
